ColdFusion MX 7 support for 64-bit platformsProducts affected
Support for 64-bit platforms with ColdFusion MX 7 is limited at this time. The status of supported configurations for ColdFusion MX 7 on 64-bit platforms is as follows:
- ColdFusion MX 7 is fully supported in all 64-bit Solaris (8, 9, and 10) and SPARC 64-bit environments when used with the Sun Solaris 32-bit Java VM.
- ColdFusion MX 7 is not currently supported on 64-bit chipset environments with 64-bit hardware, 64-bit OS and 64-bit Java VM.
- ColdFusion MX 7 is supported with a supported 32-bit Java VM running on supported operating systems on 64-bit hardware.
- ColdFusion MX 7 is not supported with IA64 (Itanium) hardware in any configuration, even with a 32-bit Java VM. Itanium is being considered for support in the future.
While the Solaris operating system and SPARC-based hardware operate in 64-bit mode, the system does allow for 32-bit program execution. Because the Sun 64-bit Java VM included with Solaris is not currently supported by ColdFusion MX 7, ColdFusion MX 7 will install the Sun 32-bit Java VM for both the stand-alone "Server" configuration and the "Multi-Server" configurations. If the "Multi-Server" configuration is selected, JRun 4 and the Sun 32-bit Java VM will be installed. This JRun configuration is officially supported (see TechNote f760350a, JRun support for 64-bit platforms).
