Select Unused Items in Library doesn't remove some components

Issue

Components that you know are not used on stage in the open Macromedia Flash file and that have a use count of zero are not selected when using the Library's 'Select Unused Items' option.

Reason

When a Library item is set to 'Export in First Frame,' it is always 'in use' even if the use count is zero. By extension, Library items used inside other Library items that are set to 'Export in First Frame' are also always 'in use.' This is so that Library items which are instantiated programmatically dont get deleted by accident.

Ref. (133166)

Solution

Manually manage the items in the Library.

Additional Information

It is not necessary to delete unused library items to reduce the file size of a Macromedia Flash file (FLA). Unused library items are not included in the final SWF file. However, items linked for export are included in the SWF file, so it's best to carefully manage your Library.
