Double-byte characters in form elements change upon publishing from Contribute

Issue

Contribute can be used to create and edit pages in foreign languages. In addition, Contribute can edit pages with forms, although Contribute cannot be used to create the forms.

When Contribute is used to edit a web page that meets both of the following two conditions, double-byte characters in form elements may change upon publishing.

  • If the page includes form elements”buttons, text fields, menus and radio buttons, for example”with double-byte characters, such as characters you would use for Japanese and Korean pages.
  • If the page encoding is not UTF-8, but other Asian encodings such as shift_jis, EUC or EUC-KR. You can verify the page encoding by choosing Format > Page Properties.

Reason

There is an issue in the way that Contribute 3 handles Form Input tags. This issue causes double-byte characters to become corrupt upon publising a page. This problem does not occur in Contribute 2.0 and earlier.

Solution

The Contribute 3.01 Updater resolves this issue. Please download and install the 3.01 Updater to resolve this issue.
